A beloved Marvel series and several fan-favorite shows lost their spots on major platforms during September 2026. The cancellations hit streamers and broadcasters alike, ending runs that ranged from one to eight seasons.
All TV shows canceled in September so far
September 2026 brought cancellations across Prime Video, BBC, Netflix, and Peacock, with several series ending despite strong critical reception and loyal fanbases.
Spider-Noir (Amazon MGM)
Prime Video canceled Nicolas Cage’s first regular TV role after one season on September 4. The show earned 11 Emmy nominations and a 92% Rotten Tomatoes score but lacked staying power on the platform. It later won five Creative Arts Emmy awards just two days after its cancellation.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK (BBC)
The BBC dropped the reality competition after eight series on September 9, citing “significant financial pressures.” A BBC spokesperson said the broadcaster “had to make some very difficult choices” as it pursues £500 million in savings. Producer World of Wonder will continue the franchise on its WOW Presents Plus streaming platform.
Ransom Canyon (Netflix)
Netflix canceled the Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly romantic western after two seasons on September 10. Season 2 drew 4.1 million views in its opening week, a 43% drop from Season 1’s 7.2 million. The series spent only three weeks on the Netflix Top 10 during its sophomore run.
M.I.A. (Peacock)
Peacock canceled the Miami-set crime drama from Ozark creator Bill Dubuque after one season on September 12. All nine episodes dropped on May 7, and the series topped Peacock’s U.S. streaming chart on its debut day. NBC gave the show an extra broadcast push on May 14, but it failed to sustain viewership.
