Bai Lu surprised staff members on the set of her new drama After the Bloom with an iPhone 18 each on Sunday (Sept 20).
Two of them who received the newly released phones shared their gift in respective Weibo posts yesterday and included group selfies taken together with the Chinese actress, who turns 32 on Sept 23.
One of the posts from a woman who works in costuming reads: “I received an amazing gift from Bai Lu! Everyone in the production team received it.
“I’ve known Bai Lu for six years — no one could possibly dislike working with her. Even those who had worked with her on one project are reluctant to see her go when filming wraps. She is always brimming with energy and kind to everyone around her — this is something we noticed and deeply appreciate.
“She treats us to endless food and milk tea, giving us red packets during the New Year, and even if we’re not celebrating together, she will still send the red packets.”
The staff member ended her post by hoping netizens could be kinder in their words to Bai Lu and that the latter would become even better.
While she did not explicitly explain about the netizens, it’s believed she was referring to multiple baseless and malicious rumours about Bai Lu’s love life that surfaced on Chinese social media recently.
She also included a group selfie taken by Bai Lu with 12 staff members holding up their new phones, adding in the comments section that everyone received one with 1TB storage in the colour Glacier.
While they didn’t specify which model they received, it’s believed to be the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
According to the Apple Singapore website, an iPhone 18 Pro Max with 1TB storage cost S$2,999.
Another staff member wrote: “I feel so blessed and will become her die-hard supporter.”
Bai Lu’s bodyguards, drivers and stuntpersons also reportedly received the gift.
After the Bloom centres on Wang Yunna (Bai Lu), who returns to Hong Kong after seven years in the United States to escape a traumatic relationship.
After falling in love with young fashion designer Zuo Wensi (Chang Huasen), she meets his sister Wei Shudong (Samantha Ko) and realises that her husband is none other than her toxic ex-boyfriend Teng Haiqi (Peng Guanying).
Bai Lu was announced as the global ambassador for Chinese streaming platform WeTV on Sept 20 and will be holding her fan-meet at Iconsiam Hall in Bangkok, Thailand, on Oct 25.
