During a presentation at this weekend’s Bilibili World expo in Shanghai, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige unveiled new artwork for Avengers: Doomsday by the company’s former Director of Visual Development Andy Park, that provides a new look at all the initially announced cast members, including Robert Downey Jr. as title villain Doctor Doom, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, the Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts
New Avengers, and the X-Men
Downey’s Doom dominates the art with his piercing stare, glowing blue with magic. Below him is a small apparition of Tom Hiddleston as Loki following the events of his 2021-23 series, and flanking him are Steve (back to sporting the long hair and beard he had in Avengers: Infinity War, while wielding Mjolnir), and Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal, wearing a jacket like all his fellow First Steps castmates)
The other big reveal from the art are the X-Men’s costumes. The teaser trailers had already revealed Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Cyclops (James Marsden)’s outfits, but this confirms Ian McKellen will finally sport Magneto’s red-and-purple colors, and that Beast (Kelsey Grammer), Mystique (Rebecca Romijn), and Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming, looking much older) will also wear their comics costumes. Otherwise, everyone’s looks have been previously revealed, or are unaltered from previous films.
Park, who was laid off from Marvel earlier this year, shared the artwork on social media, along with a statement noting Doomsday “was the final full film” he led his team on. “It was truly an honor,” he says, “and I was grateful to commemorate that journey with this marketing illustration which officially reveals, for the first time, the characters and their looks in the film. This one was definitely a beast to paint, but I genuinely enjoyed every minute of it.”
The A.V. Club adds that while at Bilibili World, Feige apparently confirmed rumors Jake Schreier‘s X-Men movie will center on the female characters, and said “you might see Yelena [Belova, played by Florence Pugh] a little bit sooner in the movies” than Doomsday. The only other MCU release between Doomsday (out December 18) and Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31) is VisionQuest (premiering October 14), which strongly implies Yelena will cross paths with Peter Parker in his next big screen adventure.
The full trailer for Doomsday ought to be released to the public during Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, on Saturday, July 25. Until then, stay tuned to The Beat for more news from SDCC ’26, and rewatch the first four teasers below
