LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) —Downtown is about to get a whole lot more heroic, and a whole lot more air-conditioned, as the Statehouse Convention Center turns into a comic lovers paradise for Arkansas Comic Con this weekend.
Emcee Joey Mills said the event is packed with celebrities, vendors, artists and cosplayers for “a full three days of just craziness,” adding that the people-watching alone is “worth the price of admission.”
This year’s guest list includes Peyton List, Danny Trejo, Ming-Na Wen, Jena Malone, Kevin Sussman, Emily Swallow, Kim Rhodes, Tom Welling, Matt Ryan and voice actor Troy Baker. Mills also said fans can expect guests connected to Rick and Morty, the Red Dead Redemption video game series, and some of the original X-Men: The Animated Series voice actors.
For newcomers, Mills had a few practical tips: bring a refillable water bottle, wear comfortable shoes and come prepared with anything you might need throughout the day. “Please come prepared to take care of yourself,” he said.
Mills said one of his favorite parts each year is watching communities form as fans meet up, sometimes because they’re dressed as the same character, and then return year after year, often bringing more friends and family along.
Arkansas Comic Con begins Friday at 3 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m. Saturday’s hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the event will go later Saturday evening for a cosplay prom. Mills said attendees can come in cosplay, prom wear or street clothes. Sunday’s hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
