Arafta Season 2 to Launch Day-and-Date on YouTube and Major Streaming Platforms

Turkish drama debuts simultaneously across eight YouTube language channels and on licensed platforms including Amazon Prime Video in India.

Turkish drama Arafta has launched season 2 with a distribution model not previously used for a scripted series. The show is releasing globally on YouTube across eight official language channels, day-and-date with premieres on Amazon Prime Video in India, Vidio in Indonesia and IVI in Russia.

Audience in these markets can watch the series on the same day on the platform of their choice, whether free on YouTube or on their local streaming service. There is no windowing and no exclusivity period between platforms.

The model builds on the show’s existing audience. Across its eight official YouTube language channels, Arafta has 3.3 Million subscribers and over 1.4 Billion views. Season 2’s premiere episode crossed 11 Million views across its official full-episode uploads.

Season 1 has been licensed in more than 25 countries. Besides India, Indonesia and Russia CIS, Season 2 has already been licensed to Latdcaster’s top-performing acquisitions

The day-and-date launch tests a long-held industry assumption that free global availability and paid platform licensing cannot coexist without one cannibalizing the other. Arafta’s record suggests otherwise. Its licensing footprint grew to more than 25 countries over the same period in which its YouTube audience grew to 1.4 Billion views, and its open availability has driven platform demand rather than reduced it.

Season 2 brings back İlsu Demirci and Emin Günenç as Mercan and Ateş, while expanding the story with new characters, conflicts and character-driven arcs.

Vivek Lath, Managing Director, GoQuest Media, said: “We are questioning assumptions the television business has long operated on: that an IP has to be exclusive to be valuable, that one platform has to win over another, or that licensing and digital distribution have to happen in sequence. Those rules aren’t fixed anymore.”

“The value of an IP lies increasingly in knowing how to get it to the audience, where that audience is, and what kind of deal allows both the IP and its partners to grow. With Arafta, we are testing different forms of distribution and commercial partnership, and letting audience response shape what comes next. We would rather lead that change than wait for the industry to define it for us.”

Sevda Kaygısız of Rains Pictures commented: “As producers, our priority has always been to create a story that can connect with audiences beyond borders. Seeing Arafta reach millions of viewers across different languages and cultures, and now launch simultaneously on YouTube and major streaming platforms, is incredibly rewarding for us.”

“This model allows audiences to discover and experience the series through the platform that works best for them, while opening new possibilities for Turkish drama internationally. We are proud that Arafta is helping explore a more flexible and audience-driven approach to global distribution. We believe this approach can create new opportunities not only for Arafta, but also for the international journey of Turkish scripted content.”

Arafta is produced by GoQuest Media and Rains Pictures.
