Apple’s next-generation smartwatches could bring a major change to health tracking. With the company‘s September event less than two weeks away, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his PowerOn newsletter says that the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 may offer always-on heart rate monitoring, allowing users to get more continuous data about their health throughout the day. Apple is also said to be working on a redesigned health and fitness experience that could make it easier for users to understand their wellness data.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 could get new health features
As per the weekly newsletter, Apple is testing health-focused changes for its upcoming smartwatches. One of the biggest upgrades could be always-on heart rate monitoring on the Apple Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra 4.Currently the Apple Watch measures heart rate during workouts and at intervals in regular use. If it’s adopted, the new feature might allow the heart-rate sensor to gather data more continuously throughout the day. The change could offer users a more granular look at how their heart rate changes across different activities and times of day.
Apple may redesign the Watch health and fitness dashboard
Apple is also reportedly working on a redesigned health and fitness experience for its watches. The company is said to be exploring ways to present wellness information in a simpler and easier-to-understand format, similar to dedicated fitness platforms such as Whoop and Oura.Rather than focusing mainly on individual workouts or occasional readings, the updated experience could offer users a broader picture of how their body responds over the course of a day.
New Apple Watch Series 12 colours and ceramic finish tipped
Health tracking may not be the only change coming to Apple’s smartwatch lineup. Gurman reports that Apple is testing a ceramic version of the Apple Watch Series 12, which could be offered in white and dark grey finishes.The company is also believed to be preparing new watch band colours and configurations for the upcoming models. The Apple Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra 4 are expected to be unveiled at Apple’s September hardware event, alongside the next-generation iPhone lineup. The event is scheduled for September 9.
