Knight’s & Magicis now available to stream in India on Crunchyroll, with Japanese audio and English subtitles. The isekai fantasy follows a Japanese software engineer who dies in an accident and is reborn in a world where magic exists and giant robots defend kingdoms from monstrous creatures. Instead of simply trying to return home, he sets out to build and pilot a machine of his own.
In his new life, the former engineer becomes Ernesti Echevalier, also known as Eru. He retains his memories and his obsession with mecha, giving him a particular interest in the Silhouette Knights, large machines used by the kingdom’s pilots to battle Demon Beasts. With exceptional magical abilities and a technical understanding carried over from his previous life, Eru aims to design a Silhouette Knight himself.
Eru studies at the Royal Laihiala Academy, where Knight Runners train to operate these machines. He joins forces with siblings Adeltrud “Addy” Olter and Archid “Kid” Olter, working towards a goal that has been considered impossible for centuries. His plans begin to push the limits of the kingdom’s established technology.
The series is based on the light novels written by Hisago Amazake-no and illustrated by Kurogin. The story first appeared as a web novel in 2010 before Shufunotomo began publishing the print edition in 2013. A manga adaptation illustrated by Takuji Katō ran from 2016 to 2022.
Eight Bit produced the 13-episode television anime, which aired between July and September 2017. Yusuke Yamamoto directed the series, with Michiko Yokote and Noboru Kimura handling the scripts and Masato Kōda composing the music.
