The latest episode of Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa has triggered a massive controversy after actress Shilpa Shinde made personal remarks about fellow contestant Shivangi Joshi. The comments, which many viewers termed a “character assault,” have sparked widespread criticism on social media, with actress Jannat Zubair stepping forward to defend her close friend
Jannat Zubair comes out in support of Shivangi Joshi
The controversy erupted after a clip from the reality show went viral, showing Shilpa in conversation with contestant Shreya Kalra. During the exchange, Shilpa allegedly mocked Shivangi’s personal life and made comments about her relationships with co-stars. She also made remarks about Shivangi’s virginity while mimicking her, drawing sharp criticism from viewers and members of the television industry
As the video gained traction online, Jannat Zubair took to Instagram Stories to voice her support for Shivangi. Calling out the nature of the remarks, Jannat wrote that it was disturbing how easily people judge someone’s character without truly knowing them
“I’ve known Shivangi for years, and I know the values she carries and the person she is,” Jannat wrote. “That’s why watching her being spoken about this way doesn’t sit right with me. You can disagree with someone, call out their actions or have a different perspective. But attacking a woman’s character should never become entertainment.”
Jannat’s statement quickly resonated with fans, many of whom praised her for standing by Shivangi during the ongoing controversy. Several social media users also criticised Shilpa’s remarks, calling them insensitive and inappropriate for a reality show

The incident has further intensified discussions surrounding the show’s content and the boundaries contestants should maintain while expressing their opinions. Many viewers argued that disagreements and strategic gameplay are expected in reality television, but personal attacks and comments targeting an individual’s character cross the line
This isn’t the first time Shivangi has found herself at the centre of controversy on the show. In recent episodes, her interactions with fellow contestant Harshad Chopda had also become a talking point, while her sister, Sheetal Joshi, had publicly criticised Shilpa Shinde for her treatment of the actress inside the house
Hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa continues to generate headlines with its dramatic twists and contestant confrontations. However, the latest episode has reignited conversations about respecting personal boundaries and avoiding character-based attacks in the name of entertainment
