The countdown to one of the biggest milestones in comic book history officially begins! This September, Marvel Comics proudly presents the 1000th issue of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, and is pulling out all the stops to make it one of the grandest comics it’s ever published!
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1000 will be led by an epic story by Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz that serves as both a culmination of their work on the title so far AND a pivotal moment that launches into the next phase of their acclaimed run! Spider-Man faces his greatest fear and his most frightening new villain in decades. Who is this Ravage? And how will his history-shattering power force Peter to question his very legacy? It’s one of Spider-Man’s most personal battles to date, and one that will shape his path for the next 1,000 issues!

Destined to take its place in comic book history, the epic milestone issue marks a major turning point in Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz’s acclaimed run with a pulse-pounding lead story that delivers the shocking fate of Aunt May and sets the stage for a revelatory showdown with the all-new super villain Ravage. And that’s just the beginning! Following Kelly and Larraz’s story, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1000 features an incredible lineup of anniversary stories from superstar creators celebrating Spider-Man’s legacy, including definitive creators from Spider-Man history and acclaimed creators contributing to the Spidey mythos for the first time, such as Noah Hawley (Alien: Earth) in his Marvel Comics debut, as well as WWE Hall of Famer & Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque!
- “I Can Never Rest”by Dan Slott and Marcos Martin brings readers back to the night that changed Peter Parker’s life in a revelatory and heartbreaking story exploring Uncle Ben’s death.
- “The Gesture” by Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen is a mighty team-up between Spider-Man and the Avengers against some of Spidey’s greatest foes!
- “Tears of the Spider-Queen” by Frank Miller and Peach Momoko pits Spider-Man against the deadly ninjas of the Hand!
- “Still Standing” by Noah Hawley and Patrick Gleason introduces an older Peter Parker as he reflects on his life and suits up for one final adventure.
- “Requiem for a Goblin” by J.M. DeMatteis and Humberto Ramos revisits the aftermath of a pivotal moment in Spider-Man history: the death of Harry Osborn.
- “Of Webs and Six-Guns” by Larry Lieber and Giuseppe Camuncoli takes Spidey on a rousing Western-style adventure!
- “The Big Night” by Triple H and Ed McGuinness spins an original Spidey tale from the WWE Hall of Famer!

The issue enlists John Romita Jr. for the main cover, uniting the iconic Spidey artist with acclaimed artist Paolo Rivera for the first time! Superstar artist Pepe Larraz also celebrated the milestone occasion with another breathtaking main cover for Spidey’s 1000th issue. The landmark issue will also feature an incredible collection of variant covers from some of the industry’s greatest artists, including Alex Ross, who captures one of Spider-Man’s most defining moments in his incomparable style, and Mark Bagley, whose cover spotlights Spider-Man’s unmatched rogues’ gallery.
“In addition to John Romita Jr. and Paolo Rivera’s jam cover, we also wanted to highlight the ‘#1000’ more concretely, hence Pepe’s cover with color artist Marte Gracia,” Editor Nick Lowe explained. “Our goal is to bring as many legendary Spider-Man artists together for this monumental celebration.”
