A 21-year-old is facing a reckless homicide charge in the early September deadly shooting of a man over a PlayStation.
Darrius S. Shelton, of Milwaukee, could face up to 60 years in the death of 37-year-old Marris Virgil.
The responding officer reported that she found “two young boys and a teenage girl screaming” on the front porch when she arrived, according to a criminal complaint. When she entered the home, she found Virgil in a bedroom with gunshot wounds to his chest and face.
The autopsy confirmed there were four gunshot wounds in total.
The victim’s “long-term romantic partner,” who witnessed the shooting, said Shelton was playing PlayStation with their sons. The two boys are Shelton’s cousins, according to the complaint.
Before the shooting, Virgil and Shelton began fighting over who owned the PlayStation. Another witness told officials that Virgil bought the PlayStation, but Shelton had paid for it to get fixed.
The partner said that she turned away for a moment, which is when Virgil was shot. “The defendant then pointed the firearm at her and threatened to shoot,” according to the complaint. Shelton then ran away.
