Find out all 10 Classes in Animal Hospital, their perks, and the best ones to unlock
One of Roblox’s most popular games, Animal Hospital has players team up to treat patients while eliminating anomalies haunting the clinic. While the game is simple to learn, it becomes increasingly challenging and complex as each shift progresses. Equipping a Class can make survival much easier by providing useful perks and starting items
For those unfamiliar with the system, Classes can be browsed and purchased in the in-game lobby. After logging into Animal Hospital, head to the ambulance on the left side of the lobby marked “Classes,” or simply click the Classes button on the left side of your screen
Players can purchase Classes using Animal Coins, the in-game currency earned by completing shifts. While many Classes can be unlocked with Animal Coins, some of the more exclusive options are only available for Robux
Animal Hospital currently features 10 Classes to choose from, with more likely planned for the future with its regular updates. Here’s a look at all 10 Classes and their perks

Intern
The Intern is the default Class that every player starts with. It provides bonus starting Sanity, with the amount increasing as the Class levels up.
- Level 1: Start with +10 Sanity
- Level 2: Start with +15 Sanity
- Level 3: Start with +20 Sanity
Nurse
The Nurse Class increases your inventory capacity, allowing you to carry more items throughout each shift. It’s especially useful for stocking medicines, weapons, and other essential supplies in the heat of a shift
Price: 20 Animal Coins
- Level 1: +1 maximum inventory capacity
- Level 2: +2 maximum inventory capacity
- Level 3: +3 maximum inventory capacity
Secretary
The Secretary Class allows you to recover Sanity whenever you check in patients. It’s an excellent choice for players who enjoy working the front desk, as registering patients becomes a reliable way to maintain your Sanity. It’s also one of the best beginner Classes thanks to its affordable price
Price: 120 Animal Coins
- Level 1: Recover +1 Sanity when checking in patients
- Level 2: Recover +1 Sanity when checking in patients, +5 bonus Sanity
- Level 3: Recover +1 Sanity when checking in patients, +10 bonus Sanity
Paramedic
The Paramedic Class starts each run with a Large Speed Cola, giving you a convenient speed boost whenever you take a sip. This makes it much easier to respond to emergencies such as fires, fainted patients, and other urgent situations
Price: 250 Animal Coins
- Level 1: Start with a Large Speed Cola (6 uses)
- Level 2: Start with a Large Speed Cola (9 uses)
- Level 3: Start with a Large Speed Cola (9 uses), regenerates 1 use each round
Psychologist
The Psychologist Class doubles all effects applied to your Sanity, both positive and negative. While this initially seems risky, it becomes one of the strongest Classes as you level it up
During the early levels, you can focus on non-anomaly tasks such as registering patients, repairing CCTV cameras, and other support duties. At higher levels, the Class gains a chance to completely ignore Sanity loss, making it very powerful
Price: 500 Animal Coins
- Level 1: All Sanity effects are doubled (positive and negative)
- Level 2: All Sanity effects are doubled, with a 7.5% chance to ignore Sanity loss
- Level 3: All Sanity effects are doubled, with a 15% chance to ignore Sanity loss
Doctor
The Doctor Class restores Sanity whenever you heal patients while also providing a bonus starting Sanity. It’s an excellent choice if you spend most of your time treating injured patients
Price: 300 Animal Coins
- Level 1: Recover Sanity when healing patients, +10 bonus Sanity
- Level 2: Recover Sanity when healing patients, +15 bonus Sanity
- Level 3: Recover Sanity when healing patients, +20 bonus Sanity
Security
The Security Class starts with an X-Taser, making it one of the strongest Classes for hunting anomalies. Whether you’re dealing with Skinwalkers, monsters, or other threats, you’ll have a powerful defensive weapon from the very beginning. This is especially valuable since Tasers don’t become available until Shift 3. At the highest level, the X-Taser also regenerates charges over time
Price: 1,250 Animal Coins
- Level 1: Start with an X-Taser (5 uses)
- Level 2: Start with an X-Taser (6 uses)
- Level 3: Start with an X-Taser (6 uses), regenerates 1 use each round
Head Nurse
The Head Nurse is an upgraded version of the Nurse Class, offering additional inventory space and an exclusive Special Technique at its highest level. The Special Technique lets you submit all treatments from your inventory instantly to treat a patient, saving great time, making it valuable during packed periods. Unlike most Classes, it can only be purchased with Robux
Price: 190 Robux
- Level 1: +3 maximum inventory capacity
- Level 2: +3 maximum inventory capacity, +10 bonus Sanity
- Level 3: +3 maximum inventory capacity, start each round with Special Technique
Surgeon
The Surgeon Class grants Sanity and a temporary speed boost after healing a patient. It serves as a strong all-rounder Class by improving both survivability and mobility
Price: 2,500 Animal Coins
- Level 1: Gain Sanity and a speed boost after healing a patient
- Level 2: Gain Sanity and an extended 8-second speed boost after healing a patient
- Level 3: Gain double Sanity, an 8-second speed boost after healing a patient, and +10 bonus Sanity
Secret Agent
The Secret Agent Class provides a gun as a starting item. It is the most expensive Class in the game, with a hefty Robux-exclusive price. The weapon can eliminate anomalies from a distance with ease, but it also features friendly fire, so you’ll need to use it carefully around teammates
Price: 890 Robux
- Level 1: Start with a gun (20 uses)
- Level 2: Start with a gun (30 uses), +10 bonus Sanity
- Level 3: Start with a gun (30 uses) that regenerates 1 use each round, +20 bonus Sanity

What is the best Class in Animal Hospital?
Surgeon is widely considered the best Class in Animal Hospital thanks to its strong buffs to fundamental stats. It restores Sanity whenever you heal patients–which is something you’ll be doing throughout the game–and provides a temporary speed boost for greater efficiency. It’s also the strongest free-to-play option, making it the best purchase overall
The Robux-exclusive Secret Agent and Head Nurse are among the strongest Classes, to no surprise. Secret Agent starts each shift with a powerful long-range gun, letting you deal with anomalies from a safe distance immediately. Meanwhile, Head Nurse excels at treating patients, with its Level 3 Special Technique allowing you to submit all treatments from your inventory instantly–saving valuable time during emergencies and solo runs
The A Tier Classes offer excellent value for their cost. Secretary is cheap and easy to unlock, providing reliable Sanity recovery from checking in patients. Doctor also restores Sanity while healing patients and grants bonus starting Sanity, though its higher price places it slightly lower.
Psychologist and Security are more specialised, but remain strong picks. A fully upgraded Psychologist can frequently ignore Sanity loss, while Security starts with an X-Taser, making anomaly encounters much easier
Paramedic and Nurse round out the lower tiers. Their perks have their uses, but they’re generally more niche, and are outclassed by other affordable Classes with better overall value
