    A large-scale deal: Fandom announces acquisition of Metacritic, GameSpot, Comic Vine and other entertainment brands

    On the official website of the wiki portal Fandom announced the acquisition of entertainment and gaming brands previously owned by Red Ventures. This includes such brands as: Metacritic, GameSpot, TV Guide and others. The amount of the deal is not announced

    Here’s What We Know

    After the deal, Fandom will rank 14th among the sites that support advertising in the United States. The company also stated:

    “This deal will continue to expand Fandom’s global fan platform to super serve entertainment and gaming fans as well as partners. The new combined platform will drive engagement across every step of the consumer journey – reference, community, trends, ratings, reviews, news and commerce. With the addition of these gaming, movie and TV platforms, Fandom will extend its 360 programs for its advertising partners – including game publishers, studios and streaming services – and enhance the data and insights within FanDNA, Fandom’s proprietary data platform. Additionally, the deal will fuel Fandom’s affiliate and commerce efforts including accelerating revenue on Fanatical, its gaming commerce business” In addition, “This deal will continue to expand Fandom’s global fan platform to super serve entertainment and gaming fans as well as partners.     • GameSpot – gaming news, reviews and articles
    • Metacritic – ratings of games, movies and TV series from journalists and users
    • TV Guide – news from the world of television
    • GameFAQs – a site where gamers consult about the passage of games
    • Giant Bomb – gaming news, reviews and articles
    • Cord Cutters – all about streaming services
    • Comic Vine – a site about comics and news from the world of comics
