#5: Super Mondo Mega Mutts #2
‘Super Mondo Mega Mutts’ #2 further immerses readers in its world
Super Mondo Mega Mutts #2 continues to expand on the bold and bloody path laid by the first issue, revealing plenty of depth along the way. When all’s said and done, this is shaping up to be a must-read for comic fans of all shapes and sizes.

#4: ROM Special #1
‘ROM Special’ #1 is a loving tribute to the classic Marvel icon
ROM is great. While it was a bit touch and go at first at hooking me, the clear love for the character radiated off the page, a love I share. Kirkman and crew clearly have a deep respect for ROM and what he means to the history of comics, and are treating him like the incredible boon of a get that he is. The character does not feel wasted here, and it doesn’t feel like a lukewarm reboot. It treats the mystery of ROM’s past as an open secret for old fans like me, and as a source of intrigue for Galadorian newbies. Great stuff, and I’m so glad he’s joined the pages of Void Rivals. Can’t wait for more of the greatest Space Knight of all.

#3: The Flash #36
‘The Flash’ #36 review: save everyone
The Flash has been one of the best pure superhero comics on the stands since North and Guidry started their run, and Flash #36 is no exception. While each issue has been fairly standalone, this is the best one to give to someone to try out and see the new direction the book has taken since DC K.O., as it features the best introduction to what’s going on with Wally and his new mission statement. North and Guidry are really firing all cylinders on this run, and I can’t wait to see the fallout to not only Flash’s new plan, but how the Justice League will react to it as well.

#2: Absolute Wonder Woman #23
‘Absolute Wonder Woman’ #23 delivers the showdown fans have been waiting for
In addition to a strong opening to a new arc, Thompson and Sherman finally introduce one of Wonder Woman’s iconic villains, Ares, the God of War. But far from being an archnemesis this time around, Absolute Wonder Woman appears to be setting him up to be an ally to Diana, which will be interesting to see. Not only is it established in the opening pages that he has a feud going with his own father, Zeus, but it’ll be exciting to see how Diana responds to the possibility of having the God of War on her side. Even more so after she has already upset Hades and Hecate and possibly other members of the Greek pantheon. Whether or not a future alliance between Diana and Ares benefits her character, only time will tell, but it could enrich the “Heretic” storyline.
