The NFL season is here, and fans across the country are ready to prove their team has the best following in the league. But what if you could actually put that passion to the test?
Whether you head to EverBank Stadium to watch Jaxson de Ville’s bungee-jump entrance, munch on the latest Fan First concession snacks, or cheer on Trevor Lawrence every step of the way, a recent Nielsen survey found that fans are doing just that.
The media research company created a new ‘NFL Fandom Index’ that looks at more than just TV ratings to measure how fans show up for their teams — from buying jerseys and attending games to streaming, social media, radio and even betting interest.
So, where does Duval land in the NFL fandom pecking order?
Here’s how Nielsen came up with the rankings and what makes Jacksonville’s fan base stand out.

Which NFL fan base ranked No. 1?
The Buffalo Bills took the top spot with a score of 208, followed by Kansas City and Green Bay.
Cincinnati and Philadelphia rounded out the top five. Nielsen said both the Bengals and Eagles ranked highly across multiple categories, even though neither fan base led a single metric outright.
How did Nielsen rank NFL fan bases?
Nielsen used eight different measures to create its Fandom Index, giving each market a broader score based on how fans engage with their team.
Where did Jaguars fans rank?
The Jacksonville Jaguars ranked No. 13 out of 30, with an average Fandom Index score of 126.
How do Jaguars fans stand out and show support?
Jaguars fans may not top the overall rankings or have the No. 1 fan base in the NFL, but they’re still making their presence felt. Nielsen identified Jacksonville as one of the league’s standout markets for streaming games, alongside Denver.
It’s another way Duval is showing up for the Jags. The strong streaming numbers suggest Jacksonville’s younger, digitally connected fan base is finding new ways to follow and support the team.
