Garth Ennis and John McCrea are reuniting for a brand new, disturbing one-shot from <a href="https://comicvibe.com/an-art-rock-illusionist-rewrites-pop-in-her-own-image/” title=”An art-rock illusionist rewrites pop in her own image”>Image Comics. Titled The Snail, the upcoming project is a psychedelic horror tale that explores themes of power, lust, and possession.
The creative team behind The Boys, Preacher, and Hitman is bringing their signature intensity to a story that centers on a deal with a talking snail—though, as Ennis notes, the advice-giving gastropod might not be the most reliable life coach.
“It might be said that a talking snail is not the best taking advice from nowadays, perhaps it’s no worse than any of the other options? Find out in The Snail, by myself and the good Mr. McCrea,” said Ennis. “If I was a talking snail I’d definitely be telling you to buy it.”
McCrea, who has collaborated with Ennis on numerous iconic projects, admitted that the story took a turn for the dark side, even by their standards. “When Garth asks you to work on a horror title with him you have to be ready for some disturbing shit,” McCrea added. “I said yes and wasn’t ready. This is some disturbing shit.”
The Snailis part of Image Comics’ Ninth Circle line and is set to hit comic book shops on Wednesday, November 11. It will also be available on various digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
