A concept visual has been unveiled for HAIKYU!! VS The Little Giant, the latest film in the HAIKYU!! anime series, which is scheduled to open in theaters in 2027. An action PV featuring new footage from the special anime HAIKYU!! Bakemonotachi no Iku Tokoro, along with a teaser visual and school visuals, has also been released.

Bokuto and Kiryu Clash in the Special Anime
The special anime HAIKYU!! Bakemonotachi no Iku Tokoro centers on Fukurodani Academy. Its newly released action PV uses the latest footage from the anime and shows Kotaro Bokuto of Fukurodani Academy and Wakatsu Kiryu of Mujinazaka High School, two of the nation’s top aces, unleashing powerful spikes as neither gives an inch. The PV also features a succession of intense plays from both teams.
A teaser visual has also been revealed, showing the two aces standing before banners bearing the phrases “Ikkyu Nyukon” and “Hyakuren Seiko,” with each visual symbolizing the strength of the respective player. The school visuals released at the same time feature Keiji Akaashi, who helps open the way for Fukurodani ace Bokuto, and Michiru Usuri, who supports Mujinazaka ace Kiryu, highlighting the matchup between the two setters as another point of interest.
Karasuno Faces Kamomedai in the Next Movi
HAIKYU!! VS The Little Giant is the sequel to HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle, which opened in Japan in February 2024. The story follows the ever growing Karasuno High School team after a series of fierce matches from the Miyagi Prefecture qualifiers through the third round of the Spring High Volleyball Tournament, as they prepare to face Kamomedai High School.
Having advanced to the Spring High quarterfinals, Shoyo Hinata and his teammates next face Kamomedai, led by Korai Hoshiumi. Hoshiumi carries the same “Little Giant” nickname once held by the player Hinata admired. The movie will finally depict one of the central matches of the <a href="https://comicvibe.com/wolverine-origin-iii-the-dark-age-by-paul-jenkins-cafu/” title=”Wolverine: Origin III: The Dark Age by Paul Jenkins & Cafu”>original manga, Karasuno versus Kamomedai and Hinata versus Hoshiumi, in a showdown between two “Little Giants.”
The special anime HAIKYU!! Bakemonotachi no Iku Tokoro will air on television and depicts a clash between Fukurodani Academy, led by the highly popular Kotaro Bokuto, and powerhouse Mujinazaka High School, home to Wakatsu Kiryu.
About HAIKYU!!
HAIKYU!! is based on Haruichi Furudate’s manga of the same name, which was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2012 to July 2020. The coming of age sports story centers on high school volleyball and follows protagonist Shoyo Hinata, a member of the Karasuno High School volleyball team in Miyagi Prefecture.
Aspiring to become like Karasuno’s former star player known as the “Little Giant,” Hinata trains and grows alongside his teammates, including genius setter Tobio Kageyama, who is known as the “King of the Court.”
The manga has surpassed 75 million copies in circulation. The television anime premiered with its first season in 2014, followed by its second season in 2015, third season in 2016, and fourth season in 2020. HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle, released in 2024, became a major hit in Japan, earning more than ¥11 billion at the box office. The official HAIKYU!! website also states that the film surpassed ¥20 billion in worldwide box office revenue.
