Launching a new video game console is no simple task, even for an industry giant like Sony, and in today’s world of rising costs and component supply issues, it seems even Sony’s CEO Hiroko Totoki isn’t quite sure when the PlayStation 6 will actually launch.
In a new interview with the Wall Street Journal, Sony CEO Hiroko Totoki discussed the latest changes at Sony, a company that made its name through not only PlayStation, but all sorts of high-end hardware like the Walkman and Bravia Televisions.
The interview discusses plenty of Sony’s corporate history at length, from the humble beginnings as a radio-repair shop in Tokyo to the more <a href="https://comicvibe.com/kanika-dhillon-collaborates-with-excel-entertainment-for-a-thriller/” title=”Kanika Dhillon collaborates with Excel Entertainment for a thriller”>entertainment focused business that it is today, where Sony’s biggest money makers are films, music and of course, video games thanks to PlayStation.
Plenty of Sony fans are eagerly awaiting news on the next PlayStation console – even though a dedicated group continue to protest Sony’s recent move away from physical media.
When it comes to PlayStation 6, we last heard back in May from the CEO that Sony hadn’t decided a release window just yet. The new interview reasserts that stance, noting that while analysts ‘expected the console to arrive next year’, the global shortage of important components still looms large. Per WSJ – “Totoki said the company still hasn’t fixed a date for PS6’s launch.“
For now at least, PlayStation fans will have to keep waiting as Sony navigates an industry that faces more than a few hurdles.
