Snagging a PC build for cheaper is an amazing feeling, particularly at a time when PC parts sell for all-time high prices. We have seen previously how some users were able to pick up powerful mid-range gaming PCs for nearly half the price, and this time it was u/Antrodemus who stumbled upon this amazing deal at Costco. Costco is one of those wonderful places where you will usually find amazing hardware deals, particularly on the display shelf.
In this case, the Redditor u/Antrodemus shares his story on the PC Master Race sub-Reddit about how he was successful in grabbing this high-end PC build for several hundred dollars cheaper. The rig was reportedly on the display shelf and was listed for $2,800, but with a rebate, the configuration was available for just $2,300. This was not just any pre-built PC, but the MSI AEGIS Gaming ZS2, which boasts one of the most powerful configurations.
The system features AMD’s Ryzen 9 9900X CPU, which offers 12 Zen 5 cores and 24 threads and costs nearly $330 on Amazon. Then we have the GeForce RTX 5080, which starts at around $1,300 these days. On top of that, the rig boasts a 32 GB DDR5 RAM kit and a 2 TB SSD, which cost around $800 together. So, these four components alone cost around $2,400, which is higher than the listed price for this system.
After accounting for the cost of a 360mm AIO, a PSU, a power supply, and the PC case, the system easily goes up to $2,700-$2,800. So, at $2,300, it was already a steal, but the user was able to get another $500 discount as the system was missing a keyboard. Similar to other vendors, MSI also bundles a keyboard and a mouse with some of its pre-built gaming PCs, and in this case, Costco knocked another $500 off the price due to the missing peripheral.
The total price after the tax came to around $1,900, which is $900 lower than the listed price of the gaming PC. In this budget, you won’t be able to build a PC with a similar configuration by buying the components separately. If you’re lucky, you may still be able to find such a deal at your local Costco store.
