Sony Group (TSE:6758) drew attention at SIGGRAPH 2026 in Los Angeles, where its presence in graphics and imaging intersected with growing interest in the stock ahead of upcoming earnings.

Sony Group’s recent appearance at SIGGRAPH comes as the stock trades at ¥3,409, with the share price up 4.89% over 30 days and 6.27% over 90 days, yet still down 16.43% year to date. The 5 year total shareholder return of 62.24% points to a stronger longer term record and suggests recent weakness reflects changing sentiment rather than a shift in the longer trend.

If events like SIGGRAPH have you thinking about where graphics, gaming and media could head next, it may be worth broadening your watchlist to include 34 robotics and automation stocks

Sony Group’s recent pullback sits against a stronger multi year return record, so the question now is whether recent gains after SIGGRAPH and into earnings represent only a partial rebound or already capture most of the upside.

    Most Popular Narrative: 26.8% Undervalued

The most followed narrative values Sony Group at ¥4,657 per share, compared with the last close at ¥3,409, and links that gap squarely to entertainment and sensor businesses.

The accelerating monetization of proprietary content IP including music catalogs, blockbuster anime (e.g., Demon Slayer), and cross platform franchises, together with strategic partnerships (e.g., Bandai Namco), positions Sony to capitalize on global entertainment demand and improve both revenue growth and margin profile.

Want to see what kind of earnings power those entertainment assets and sensors need to deliver? The narrative leans on measured revenue growth, firmer margins, and a richer future earnings multiple. Curious how those moving parts line up to justify that higher fair value.

Result: Fair Value of ¥4,657 (UNDERVALUED)

Have a read of the narrative in full and understand what’s behind the forecasts.

However, it is still worth keeping in mind that higher memory costs pressuring PlayStation hardware margins and tougher competition in image sensors could challenge the Sony Group story that investors are leaning on.

Another View On Sony Group’s Valuation

The narrative fair value for Sony Group at ¥4,657 points to upside, but the current P/E ratio of 19.4x tells a more cautious story. It sits well above the JP Consumer Durables industry at 9.4x, yet below the peer average of 23.1x and the fair ratio of 23.4x. That mix suggests some valuation support, but also less of a clear bargain, so which signal do you put more weight on?
