Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition just received an overview trailer, which shows off what to expect from the new version of Monolith Soft’s RPG.

As was first announced in last month’s Nintendo Direct, Pyra and Mythra are both getting new outfits. We have a look at both above.

Also new here is Merc Assault, a mode that lets you directly control Blades. You can choose up to six Blades to send out on a mission. In battle, you can change which one you control at any time.

The new outfits for Pyra and Mythra can be obtained as rewards for Merc Assault.Once acquired, you can switch between these and the original outfits at any time.

Finally, Momo has been revealed as a brand new Blade. She can swap between two forms to change her appearance and elemental affinity (light and dark). Momo will come with a new quest.

Of course, you’ll also get graphical upgrades. The game can now be played at 60 frames per second at 4K resolution when docked and 1080p in handheld mode. Cutscenes will also improved frame rate, resolution, and detail.

Here’s a general overview of the game:

Lost in a sea of clouds, entire civilizations rest on the backs of Titans. As the giant beasts march toward death, the last hope is a scavenger named Rex—and Pyra, a living weapon known as a Blade. Command a group of Blades and lead them to countless strategic victories as you search for the fabled paradise Pyra calls home. This journey has been enhanced with 4K resolution in TV mode, and full HD in handheld mode, at 60 frames per second – and with smoother and sharper cutscenes.

Discover a new rare Blade – and control your Blades to fight in mercenary squad battles

Not only is there an additional Blade out there for you to find – along with a quest to complete – but you can directly command your Blades in a new action battle mode!

Unlock new equipment designs for Pyra and Mythra

Customize the look of Pyra and Mythra with new equipment designs exclusive to this Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game.
