Sumerian Comics joined forces with rock band Godsmack to create a 96-page graphic novel drawn from the group’s 2000 album Awake. The hardcover book can be pre-ordered through the publisher. Five tiers exist, priced between $40 and $250.
This graphic novel transforms the album into a tale about Sevrin. He wakes up sprawled across sand dunes in Massachusetts. No memory explains how he got there. Bruises mark his body, and chunks of time have vanished from his mind. A matchbook keeps sending him to bars that don’t exist.
Halloween night drags him through dive after dive. Sevrin relives deaths spanning different centuries. Each vision ties back to greed, rage, and people ruined by repeating the same errors he can’t stop making. Fresh scars materialize with every vision, and the boundary between what happened before and what’s happening now starts to dissolve.
Jonathan Hedrick wrote it. Giusi Lo Piccolo drew the illustrations. Simone D’Angelo handled colors, while Toni Sardina took care of lettering. The oversized hardcover stands at 7.25 by 11 inches with a dust cover protecting it.
Godsmack has moved more than 20 million records across the globe. Eleven No. 1 singles at mainstream rock radio bear their name. Twenty Top 10 singles fill their catalog, more than any artist at that format since 1999. Eight studio albums have dropped since 1998.
A 25th Anniversary Edition of Awake arrived in 2025 with bonus tracks. On May 1, 2026, the band put out Live at Mohegan Sun.
Five tiers of pre-order bundles exist. Tier one runs $40 and gets you the hardcover. Tier five costs $250, caps at 50 copies, and packs in a hardcover, slipcase, postcard set, access card for downloads, t-shirt, license plate, shot glass set, matchbook, and a bookplate signed by Sully Erna.
