Our friends at Silver Sprocket sent over some art from animator Nick Winn’s upcoming Bloody Mary. Although it features a vampire, this isn’t exactly a horror story – it’s a story about dating and romance! But there are also vampires:
Maria can’t wait to sneak out and go on a date with Alvin, the cute boy she’s always had a crush on. But their night out is disrupted by Evan’s cousin, who only has “ten seconds” to stop at vampire club The Stake. Is the night ruined, or will the beat of irresistible house music help Maria change her mind?
This is Winn’s first graphic novel, but he will broadcast jazz, fighting games, Dragon Ball Z, schoolhouse rock and the influence of the Disney Comics Zone series on him. Nothing but the best!
Here’s a little preview – the book will be published on November 13th.
Kyle at Silver Sprocket sent previews of a few other books in the spirit of the season:
In this book, Ashley Robin Franklin takes you through mysterious corridors in eight horror comics that just make you uncomfortable. Whether in arid deserts or rain-soaked forests, these stories reveal the faults of the flesh that lurk beneath the surface. As a strange desert flower provides an intoxicating comfort to grief, a group of friends tell an ancient story around a campfire, and outside a remote farmhouse, something magical and terrifying falls from the night sky. Bodies are found, lost, celebrated, borrowed, haunted—and irrevocably changed.
On the Friday before Kate’s 30th birthday, she convinced her friends to go back to her hometown to celebrate. The plan: Break into an abandoned house and hold a séance, just like she did in high school. As the friends hold hands on a Ouija board, a disturbingly real scream pierces the air. What started out as a fun way to relive your punk adolescence before accepting the burdens of adulthood turned into a night for bloodthirsty cultists to escape. Can they find a way out of suburbia alive?
