After EC Comics was shut down by the Comics Code Authority in 1956, the publisher’s past titles continued to circulate through other outlets such as Dark Horse Comics and IDW Publishing. Recently, EC Comics announced a new partnership with Oni Press to produce new EC Comics titles for the first time in 70 years. Oni Press previously announced Horror Anthology cruel universe and An epitaph from the abyss.
This dark fantasy anthology will be EC Comics’ first foray into the dark fantasy pool, and is part of Oni Press and EC Comics’ plan to touch upon genres only touched upon in their original library.
“For the first time, we’re excited to present all-new stories from Age of Knights and Dragons, stories filled with the same joyous, crazy EC energy that once drove Epitaph from the abyss and cruel universe two of the hottest series in comics today,” said Oni Press President and Publisher Hunter Greenson. Gorinson promises this isn’t the only surprise in store for EC Comics in the year ahead.
Cruel Kingdom #1 Priced at $4.99. Volume 1 (the first of four) was released on January 8, 2025.
