Fortnite OG is a unique game mode that allows you to essentially go back in time and experience Fortnite’s formative years. While the game has evolved drastically over the years, it’s been fun to go retro with Fortnite OG.

The never-ending success of Fortnite is down to its ingenuity and innovation. Just look at 2026: The live-service shooter is about to face stern competition from GTA 6, so it launches the Fortnite Pirate Shop Token. But we’re looking at an ironic innovation that’s actually been taking players back a few years in Fortnite OG, so let’s see if Epic is shutting it down.

According to leaks, Fortnite OG Season X will be the last of the current version of Fortnite OG, and the mode will be temporarily gone, but will return in 2027.

Fortnite OG’s popularity has dwindled over time, but it still has plenty of players who enjoy it. We’ve learned that Fortnite is not afraid to shut down popular game modes for good, but thankfully, it doesn’t look like this is the permanent case for Fortnite OG.

    When Will Fortnite OG Return?

Fortnite OG is expected to return in “late 2027.”

Chapter 1: OG Season X will be the last you see of Fortnite OG…for now. Insiders have revealed that the OG mode will be wrapping up shortly, but according to HYPEX and other leakers: ‘The Next Era of Fortnite OG drops in late 2027.’

    When Does Fortnite OG End?

Fortnite OG’s first run looks to finish on December 5, 2026, with a live event.

    According to Shiina (through @realAlucar):

‘FORTNITE OG WILL RETURN LATE NEXT YEAR!

‘OG Pass will end on December 5 with a dramatic conclusion at the end of Chapter 1: OG Season X. The Next Era of Fortnite OG drops in late 2027.’

It’s unconfirmed if the next era of Fortnite OG is a simple continuation with Chapter 2, or something else entirely.
