Dynamite has announced two different crossovers for Vampirella coming this fall: Vampirella vs. Darkstalkers, and Pathfinder/Vampirella: Blade of Darkness. The former, by writer Tim Seeley and artist Drax Gal, will see Vampi clash with the demon princess Morrigan Aensland, who is preying on the souls of humans, only for them to discover they are both being pursued by the monster hunter Baby Bonnie Hood. Seeley, whose previous credits include Dynamite’s 2015 crossover Vampirella/Army of Darkness, comments, “I love crossovers, which I’m sure doesn’t surprise anyone. And I especially love ones that can unexpectedly delight, and come out of nowhere. Vampi vs Morrigan is all of those things, with the added bonus of being sexy, and drawn by Drax Gal. It’s vampiress anti-heroines from games, comics, modern and retro, mashing it up with lots of teeth and skin.”
The book will be released sometime this fall, with covers by Drax Gal, Lucio Parrillo, Francesco Mattina, Björn Barends, Joseph Michael Linsner, and more that’ll only be available in blind bags.
Pathfinder/Vampirella: Blade of Darkness, meanwhile, is with art by Federico Dallocchio (2011’s Suicide Squad), and will see Vampi get accidentally summoned to Golarion, the world of Pathfinder, by vampire lord Zaloch. In the ensuing war between vampires and monster hunters, Vampi will see herself contend with heroes like the elf rogue Merisiel, and her human wife, the cleric Kyra
The book marks Burnham’s first in the world of Paizo’s Pathfinder tabletop game, and his second Vampirella series, after 2018’s Vampirella/Dejah Thoris. He says, “Golarion is a fantastic sandbox to play in, and the only complaint I’ve had so far is that I only have so many pages to explore it! Not only has introducing Vampirella into a new world full of gods, monsters, and heroes been a treat for me, so has getting to write those gods, monsters, and heroes for the first time — and knock on wood, not the last!”
Blade of Darkness #1 will be released in October, with covers by Steven Cummings, Andrew Huerta, and Wayne Reynolds, all of whom have provided artwork for previous Pathfinder comics and the game. “Rare” Pathfinder collectibles will be included in blind bagged copies.
