Nov. 4 (UPI) — Netflix is adapting Prep as a new YA series.
The streaming service announced a straight-to-series order for Prep, based on the bestselling debut novel by author Curtis Sittenfeld, on Tuesday.
Prep follows Lee Fiora, a scholarship student at the elite New England prep school Ault, as she “navigates friendship, crushes, and class as a fish out of water among her privileged, confident classmates.”
Nicole Taylor (One Day) will adapt the story, with Sittenfeld and Gloria Sanchez to serve as executive producers. Sittenfeld said on Instagram that Alix Taylor and Will Ferrell will also executive produce.
“Prep is my all-time favorite novel and I have longed to adapt it for the entire twenty years since I first read it and found myself reflected uncannily back,” Nicole Taylortold Netflix’s Tudum.
“There is no more acute description of the introspective, bookish self-conscious adolescent girl and no more truthful or excoriating take on the perils of social mobility than in Curtis Sittenfeld’s beautiful first novel. I am overjoyed to be adapting for Netflix.”
