Netflix has no plans to slow down even with only two months left in the year. In fact, the streamer is ramping up its list of new and returning shows this month. One of Netflix’s surprise U.S. hits of 2025 returns on Thanksgiving for a drama-filled second season.
Kicking things off this month are the second seasons of a riveting action thriller and a charming comedy. For teenagers, a psychological drama with a supernatural twist should garner some headlines. Finally, Netflix tackles the fall of a cryptocurrency exchange in a new crime drama.
This list presents the shows and movies in the order of their release.
Black Doves season 2
Spies in disguise
Black Doves,a British espionage series, perfectly balances action with comedy. In one scene, star Keira Knightley is throwing punches left and right while trying to escape a room. In the next scene, Ben Whishaw’s character might drop a witty one-liner in full deadpan. This push-and-pull makes the series so entertaining.
In season 2, Helen Webb (Knightley) is preparing for her life to change as her husband, Wallace Webb (Andrew Buchan), gets ready to become prime minister. That association only makes protecting Helen’s secret—she works as a spy for the covert organization Black Doves—that much more important. When Helen’s handler, Reed (Sarah Lancashire), goes missing, Helen and Sam (Ben Whishaw) search for the truth, which inevitably involves killing some people and blowing a few things up, a recipe for success within this genre.

North of North season 2
The cold town with charm
Who knew that a comedy set in an Arctic town could be so funny and have undeniable charm? North of North is Netflix’s first Canadian original series. The half-hour comedy stars Anna Lambe as Siaja, a young and ambitious Inuk mother living in the fictional Arctic town of Ice Cove, Nunavut. As in any small town, gossip travels quickly, and Siaja ending the first season as a single woman certainly made waves.
This season, Siaja is tackling obstacles on three fronts. She seeks more responsibility at work, strives to learn more about her long-lost half-sister, and opens her heart to love. Keep in mind, Siaja does this all while taking care of her daughter. The appeal of North of North lies in the show’s optimistic magnetism. We could all use a feel-good show in our lives.

The Body
Girls gone bad
The first line in the trailer for The Body is, “Can a person really contact the Devil?” Continue watching the trailer, and you’ll start thinking about Carrieand Mean Girls. That’s the hook. Eventually, you see that a dance team’s drug-fueled party might have led the Devil to their town. That’s the kicker.
Created by Quinn Shephard, The Body revolves around the Lions, a dance team made up of Catholic schoolgirls. At a dance team party, the captains (Kristina Bogic and Sara Boustany) hold a new-member initiation where they offer up Grace (Sofia Wylie) as a “most holy virgin sacrifice” during a ritual. Something strange happens that night, and the town begins to feel the blowback. The Bodyis a raunchy teen drama that channels the spirit of the 2000s. Cue the Cobra Starship song.

The Altruists
The end of FTX
Netflix always works quickly to dramatize a notorious scandal or crime. It’s one of their strengths as a streaming service. This month, the meteoric rise and catastrophic fall of FTX plays out over eight episodes in The Altruists. Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle star as Caroline Ellison and Sam Bankman-Fried, two central figures in Alameda Research and the cryptocurrency exchange FTX.
Ellison and Bankman-Fried meet, fall in love, and get ridiculously rich. There’s a familiar pattern with these entrepreneurs-turned-criminals who claim they’re trying to change the world. It turns out you can’t commit fraud and steal $8 billion from customers. The Altruists is the kind of crime drama that could rise to the top of Netflix’s Top 10. It’s one of those stories that will baffle your mind, especially once you realize how Ellison and Bankman-Fried’s intelligence constantly clashes with their stupidity.
