From heartbreak, a new love.
Four years after Marilee Fiebig and Andrew Shue’s then-spouses T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach—from whom they were separated behind the scenes—became romantically involved, Fiebig and Shue’s romance has reached a new milestone.
The pair, who found love with each other in the wake of their marriages ending, are officially engaged. As Shue told People in an interview published Oct. 21, “We’re very grateful and happy.”
The pair first struck up a friendship in 2022 amid the media frenzy that surrounded Holmes and Robach’s relationship revelation, before their dynamic turned into something more than platonic. They went on to date for the last three years before getting engaged this past spring.
“I don’t know how it happened,” Shue admitted, “but there’s a happy ending.”
When news broke of the romance between Robach and Holmes—who tied the knot this year in September—speculation soon abounded that they’d cheated on their respective spouses, though both TV anchors denied such claims and said they’d been privately separated from Shue and Fiebig for some time.

For Shue—who shares three sons with his first wife Jennifer Hageney and two stepdaughters with Robach, while Fiebig and Holmes share a daughter—part of being able to move forward with Fiebig was accepting the end of his and Robach’s relationship.
“I had to accept my own part in marriage not working out for me and in not understanding myself well enough and not understanding what matters in a relationship well enough to find the right person for me,” the Melrose Place alum told People, “and that has been an extraordinary gift. Again, I don’t know how it happened, but I can say I’m grateful.”
“I had to grow through a lot of pain and a lot of struggle and a lot of humility,” Shue added. “I think the magic of love is when you go from a need to giving.”
He’s also aware that the circumstances around how he and Fiebig, 49, came together are on the unusual side—though he’s not one to question a silver lining.
“You don’t know how you meet the person who’s right for you,” the 59-year-old reflected. “You can say how it’s just this kind of freak luck that this is how you ended up getting to know that person in a way that would allow you to reveal yourself and for her to reveal herself. And this just happened to be a circumstance that allowed for that.”
Shue added, “I don’t think there was anything other than this just happened to be our way of getting to know each other and being able to share ourselves with each other in a time where we both needed a friend.”

The engagement was confirmed by pal Marina Hollyer, who posted a photo of the two on her Instagram Story Aug. 19 along with the caption: “My best friend in the world just got engaged.”

We collected moments, crossed milestones, became a family, and watched two separate places on a map slowly become one home.”
“I organized for a picnic blanket to be waiting for us with a pitcher of margaritas—extra sweet because that’s how Andrew orders them,” he recalled. “After the proposal, we got back on the dinghy—but instead of going back to the mainland, it took us out to a chartered boat. Six of our friends were hiding on it, waiting to surprise Andrew and celebrate with us!”

“I’m on cloud 9 she said yes,” Lochte told TMZ. “I’m happy this is my new beginning, and I couldn’t do it without her.”
“SHE SAID YES (again),” he wrote on Instagram May 26. “Proposing again meant taking something that was already extraordinary and making it fully our own. It means the world to be able to reaffirm our promise and love to one another just the two of us.”

“My soulmate asked me to marry him,” she wrote on Instagram Feb. 11. “With every lifetime, every moment I have in front of me I said yes.”
“There’s some confusion,” she said. “It’s going around that I, that my guy Van Hunt—I’ve been dating him now for almost six years—well, there’s some confusion that he asked to marry me and I said no.”
However, “I did not say no,” Halle affirmed. “We just don’t have a date, but of course I said yes, I would marry him!”
“I was in complete shock!” she told People in a Jan. 7 interview. “My nervous system was trying to catch up to what just happened in this magical moment and I was also trying to process the iceberg that was being presented to me as well! I of course said ‘yes,’ and melted into what was the sweetest kiss I’ve ever felt!”
