There have always been a few games that people have wanted to see come to the Steam Deck, like Destiny 2. However, one of the biggest ones was Fortnite. It was odd that it wasn’t, especially since the anti-cheat it uses, Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC), has Linux compatibility. However, Epic has been against it. That ends today, as Epic has officially announced that Fortnite is coming to Linux.
In a post about the brand-new launcher, which is in preview right now, they mentioned that they are bringing Fortnite to Linux. Epic Games Store Preview Launcher Post
I’m willing to give Epic a shot, and I’m extremely happy to hear that they are bringing Fortnite to Linux (and the Steam Deck), and making the launcher directly compatible. I still disagree with some of their practices, but competition is not a bad thing. However, I will be first in line to play Fortnite on the Steam Deck as soon as it’s ready. I have my Sora skin ready to go.
You can download and try this launcher preview for yourself through Epic’s website. And yes, this preview is available on Linux.
