From the Ignatz Awards to the Nashville Comics Festival, the world of comics has been booked and busy the last couple of months. That includes new releases.

This month has the expected spooky titles, as well as Horse Girl memoirs, the latest from Jonathan Djob Nkondo Scavenger’s Reign, and more. There are also a couple of adaptations from novels, including The Midnight Library: The Graphic Novelby Fred Fordham, Things We Lost in the Fire: Four Graphic Stories by Mariana Enriquez, Lucas Nine, translated by Megan McDowell. Legends & Lattes has also been adapted, but more on that after the jump.

Legends & Lattes: The Graphic Novel cover

Legends & Lattes: The Graphic Novelby Travis Baldree, Samuel Sattin

I just finished reading an early review copy of this, and it’s my favorite release of 2026 so far! I love the original sapphic cozy fantasy novel Legends & Lattes, but I think it’s even better in comics form. The illustrations perfectly capture the cozy atmosphere, and the slowburn F/F romance complements the story of found family and community building. Check out this excerpt from the Book Riot Newsletter for a few pages from the graphic novel as well as Travis Baldree’s reflections on how the cozy fantasy subgenre has evolved since Legends & Lattes was first published. —Danika Ellis

Cover Image of Wandering by Jonathan Djob Nkondo

    Wandering by Jonathan Djob Nkondo

Nkondo’s involvement with Scavenger’s Reignwas enough for me to recommend Wandering, a wordless comic that follows the paths of two men. One wanders the surface world and its arid landscape, while the other lives below, in a society that has taken all of its technological advancements underground. Despite their very different environments—and the fact that they never meet—both men struggle with similar feelings of missed connections and alienation

I Can’t Stop Thinking About Horses and Sex by Lisa Hanawalt

When I first read the title of this memoir from Lisa Hanawalt (Tuca & Bertie, BoJack Horseman), I literally said “Girl, what??” But I get it now…I think. The good sis is just reflecting on her long-standing obsessions (like horses, obviously), while also trying to be an adult (who deals with childhood trauma, breakups, etc.). Which is all very real

The Wolf at Memory’s End by Adachitoka, translated by Dawson Chen

From Adachitoka, the creators of Noragami, which was adapted into a popular anime, comes the story of a brave middle school girl who doesn’t always fit in. One day, she takes a tumble down a hillside after trying to help someone, and she winds up at an inn where lost memories can be regained…

    Stagtown: Volume 1by Punko

Something weird is going down in one young woman’s hometown—something that doesn’t sound so unfamiliar…In Stagtown, cameras are popping up everywhere, and when you take one down, several others take its place. Once her neighbor Jeremy dies, Frankie locks in to find out what’s going on. With the help of friends (which includes a cat), she sets out on a dangerous truth-finding mission, replete with a creepy cellar, a bloody carousel, a sinister house, and more

Strange Cases by Riotbones (October 13)

Jude is a law student who returns to the town of Lazaro to take over his late mother’s law practice. He soon discovers that his mother was keeping secrets, and his clients are monstrous in every sense of the word. This gothic graphic novel looks like a fascinating mash-up: it’s paranormal horror meets crime drama set in a world inspired by Filipino and European history

Worst Man by Brandt&Stein (October 13)*

Radcliffe sells his services as “worst man” to anyone who wants a wedding stopped pronto. But his latest job is proving a challenge, as Rad finds himself falling in love with a member of the wedding party and entertaining the growing suspicion that stopping this particular wedding would be a big mistake

*Note: This was in a previous round-up, but the publication date has since changed.

Cover Image of Huda F Would Love You? by Huda Fahmy

Huda F Would Love You? by Huda Fahmy

This has to be one of my all-time favorite graphic memoirs series, and the great thing is you necessarily have to read them in order (though it’d be better if you did). In this latest snippet of Huda’s life, we follow the teen during the summer after her high school graduation, when she is ready for love. But is love ready for her is the question. She’s got great new supportive friends, and she’s getting set up with lots of eligible guys her age, but gender roles and her ambitions start to clash. All of it has her wondering if she can be happy and have it all.
