(WHNT) — If you prefer to see Spider-Man swing through New York on your phone instead of in print, you will soon need to move to a new app to keep up with the web-slinger.
Marvel announced to Marvel Unlimited subscribers on Monday that it plans to sunset the app in December and release a new digital comics app to take its place.

Originally introduced in 2007, Marvel Unlimited is a subscription service that allows comic book fans access to digital versions of Marvel comics released by the publisher each month. Marvel said that, as of 2022, the app offered 30,000 comics in its digital library, made available to subscribers for a monthly or annual fee.
The library includes everything from 1975’s Giant Size X-Mento Jed MacKay’s 2026 run of Marc Spector: Moon Knight to everything Spider-Man or Avengers you could think of. The app has also allowed the publisher to release what it calls Infinity Comics, which forgo a traditional comic book layout for a more smartphone-friendly scrolling layout.
According to an FAQ published on Marvel’s website, Marvel Unlimited will officially sunset on Dec. 7, 2026. Subscribers won’t have to wait for a replacement, however, as the company has announced it will launch its new app on Nov. 16, 2026.
The new app will be called Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON. The new app will have Marvel handing off the operation of the app to WEBTOON, a South Korean-American platform known for its original digital comics, which has partnered with Marvel Comics, DC Comics and Archie Comics, among many other brands in the past.
Marvel said current subscribers will be able to import their digital comics and reading histories to the new app but will need to set up a new account and subscription with WEBTOON. The company also said people with existing Marvel Unlimited subscriptions as of Oct. 5 will keep their access to the app free of charge until Dec. 7.
The publisher said the new app will also include a new annual subscription tier which will allow readers to get the latest titles one month after they are published, instead of the three-month delay Marvel Unlimited has for all subscribers.
