Aberdeen: Cath Bowie, 78, a grandmother from Scotland, has been named by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest female Fortnite streamer on Twitch. Bowie, known online as ‘grumpygran1948,’ started playing Fortnite in 2017 after becoming fascinated while seeing her teenage grandson play.
Nearly nine years later, Bowie has over 24,000 Twitch followers and frequently streams her games, sometimes for several hours at a time. She says that Fortnite is the only game that actually piqued her interest after trying other titles.
Bowie’s achievement is included in the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2027, along with other record-breaking gamers. She stated that reaching the record was previously a faraway objective but has now become a significant milestone in her gaming career.
Bowie also has a message for older gamers: ‘Age should not be a barrier to attempting something new.’ She claims she still enjoys playing and streaming and has no intentions to slow down.
