Roblox is preparing to provide developers with broader avenues to construct and distribute their games. The upcoming capabilities will span standalone applications for mobile devices, personal computers, and consoles, alongside in-browser play and expanded artificial intelligence creation tools.

Announced during the 12th annual Roblox Developers Conference, these platform updates also encompass offline gameplay, structural adjustments to how experiences are discovered, and new payment mechanisms for creators. At the same time, Roblox is widening access to Build, its prompt-based game creation tool, by introducing a public alpha in Singapore. This rollout follows an earlier alpha phase previously conducted in New Zealand.

Roblox opens more ways to play

Developers will soon gain the ability to publish their Roblox titles as standalone applications across personal computers, mobile devices, and consoles. Alongside standalone distribution, the platform is planning in-browser play through Chrome by the end of the year. This web capability will permit players to launch an experience directly from its Experience Details Page without having to install it first.

Offline functionality is likewise in development for single-player titles. Under this arrangement, studios and creators will be able to blend offline and online modes within a single release.

Beyond accessibility, Roblox is broadening the technical range of genres supported by its underlying engine. Upcoming additions tailored to 2D and puzzle games will introduce an orthographic camera as well as sprite-sheet importing. Furthermore, the platform is preparing interface features and system notifications designed specifically for multiplayer experiences where players do not need to be online at the same time.

Social and communication features are receiving similar attention through a newly designed Friends chat tab that stays open while users navigate across different games. Complementing this persistent communication tool, voice typing functionality is being added to the platform.

AI creation tools expand to Singapore

The rollout of Build is expanding into public alpha across both Singapore and Serbia, following its prior testing phase in New Zealand. Adoption has climbed swiftly since the utility first appeared, with Roblox reporting that creators have published roughly 9,000 games using the system. Notably, 71% of those titles were produced by individuals working with Roblox Studio for the very first time.

Generative capabilities will expand further before the end of the year through the arrival of Scene Generator in both Build and Roblox Studio. This enhancement will enable creators to produce full environmental scenes directly from descriptive text prompts.

In tandem with environmental tools, Roblox is advancing the capabilities of non-player characters across the ecosystem. These forthcoming additions include NPCs that can take part directly in game testing routines. The company expects to make these automated testing features available to creators by the close of the year.

Taken together, these successive updates broaden the footprint of Roblox’s artificial intelligence toolset across the entire development pipeline. They systematically span core game generation, environmental scene building, and quality testing.

Creator payments and discovery are changing

Monetisation and financial management are undergoing a major shift with the arrival of a dedicated creator account named Roblox Wallet. Slated to begin rolling out later this year, the service will cater to eligible US creators aged 18 and above. It will grant them the ability to receive earnings in real currency, draw daily payouts, and move their funds as needed.

A dedicated Roblox Card tied directly to Wallet is scheduled to arrive next year. At that stage, the company also anticipates expanding the availability of Wallet to creators globally.

Alongside financial updates, the company is fundamentally revising the algorithms that determine how titles surface across the platform. The updated Discovery Ranking mechanism is being structured around differences in engagement patterns between younger and older players. Simultaneously, Roblox is running tests on targeted modifications aimed at improving direct player growth.

Discovery through gameplay footage is expanding as well, with the Moments tab now fully available to audiences across the US. This feature presents gameplay video clips that users can watch prior to entering an experience, with additional enhancements planned for future releases.
