Much has been made in the past year about most <a href="https://www.avclub.com/netflix-season-two-bombs-avatar-the-last-airbender-beef-running-point” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>Netflix series’ inability to sustain viewership beyond their first seasons. It turns out that Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen is no exception; Deadlinereports this afternoon that its second season viewership has fallen 45% compared to its first season premiere. Since its premiere on September 3, it has earned 6.7 million views. The first season, which premiered in March 2024, earned 12.2 million views in the same period of time.

While this is fairly typical for Netflix at this point, it does still feel like a bit of a surprise given that it felt like the streamer actually tried to market this season, with star Theo James making a fairly significant press push. The Gentlemeneven got a third-season renewal before its second debuted, and for a couple of hours there were rumors that Meghan Markle might appear in that season upon her return to the United Kingdom. Whether that would have actually done anything to help the show’s viewership is up for debate and is ultimately not relevant but the point is: Netflix has clearly been planning for a future with The Gentlemen. Hopefully they can figure out how to turn things around, perhaps with a gap of less than two and a half years between seasons.
