Amy Grant is looking back on the connection she formed with Vince Gill before they became a couple.
During a <a href="https://comicvibe.com/nintendo-switch-2-eshop-charts-september-6-2026/” title=”Nintendo Switch 2 eShop charts – September 6, 2026″>September 1 appearance on the Human School podcast, Amy discussed working with her future husband while they were both married to other people.
“We worked together. I was married. He was married. And all I know to say is I couldn’t un-know what it felt like to feel that kind of respect.” she recalled.
They met in 1993 while Amy was married to Gary Chapman, and Vince was married to Janis Oliver. Years passed before they publicly became a couple, with Amy divorcing Gary in 1999 and marrying Vince in March 2000.
Looking back in the new interview, Amy said Vince’s kindness and the respect he showed her made a lasting impression.
“We got together because he was the kindest person I ever met and I was so attracted to him. I fell in love with him. I couldn’t un-know his kindness,” she said.
Amy also described learning to share a life while respecting that each partner has separate experiences and opportunities.
The singers celebrated their 26th anniversary earlier this year. They share daughter Corrina, in addition to children from their previous marriages.
Music has remained part of their partnership. Their collaborations include Amy’s 1994 song “House of Love” and their 2024 holiday album, When I Think of Christmas.
