    Key Points

    • Elliot Page has yet to find his next role after starring in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.

    • The Oscar-nominated actor also shared why he believes his “best work” is actually ahead of him.

    • “If someone wants to call me,” Page said.

Hey, Hollywood! Give the people what they want and cast Elliot Pagein your next film immediately, please and thank you.

During a recent visit to the On Film… With Kevin McCarthy podcast, the 39-year-old actor, who is trans, revealed that he has yet to find his next great role after his stellar turn as Sinon in Christopher Nolan‘s The Odyssey.

“If someone wants to call me,” Page teased, before jokingly adding, “I know I get some pushback for being… Canadian. I don’t know what it’s about.”

The Umbrella Academy alum noted that he’s still interested in acting and believes that his “best work” is still ahead of him.

“I don’t know if this is weird or too personal, but when you do ask me about [Inception]… I had such a great time being in that movie. I had such a great time working with [writer-director Christopher Nolan], but I was also personally really uncomfortable,” he admitted. “Whereas, a part like Juno, I was able to feel more comfortable and embodied or something like that.”

He continued, “But I feel now, because that’s removed, and I don’t have to deal with that when I’m acting in my performances, I am like… I feel like I could maybe do some of my best work now.”

The Oscar nominee said that he feels much more comfortable in his skin now that he’s “not having to work through a performance that I don’t even quite know I’m doing to get a performance.”

It’s what made the experience of teaming up with Nolan again for The Odysseyfeel “cathartic” compared to Inception. “When I wrapped on The Odyssey, [I cried],” Page said, miming tears streaming down his face. “I had a moment. Like, there was a full-circle moment.”

He added, “I think that just feeling more embodied and connected, that’s what weirdly lets you let go more, you know? Knowing yourself more and embodying yourself more, weirdly, lets you let go more.”

Based on Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey follows Odysseus (Matt Damon) as he and his crew experience incredible peril while trying to return home to Ithaca following the events of the Trojan War. Page, who experienced a torrent of transphobic remarks after his casting was announced, gives one of the most affecting performances in the film, especially during a scene in which Sinon reunites with Odysseus in the underworld.
