Black Clover Season 2 is coming soon, and fans in the U.S. and Canada will get a chance to watch it early in theatres. Crunchyroll has announced that the new season will receive an advance screening as part of its Anime Night Sneak Peek event on September 21.
The lineup will also feature previews of upcoming anime including Overgeared, Firefly Wedding, The Vermillion Mask, and Psyren. All screenings will be presented in Japanese with English subtitles.
Black Clover Season 2 picks up after the Star Festival awards ceremony following the Underwater Temple arc, where Asta is promoted from a 5th-Class Junior Magic Knight up to a 3rd-Class Junior Magic Knight.
The story adapts the long-awaited Spade Kingdom Raid Arc, with Asta, Yuno, and the Magic Knights taking the fight to the Dark Triad in one of the manga’s biggest story arcs.
Ayataka Tanemura returns to direct the new season after helming the original anime, while Pierrot Films is handling animation. Studio Pierrot produced the first anime, which aired from 2017 to 2021 across 170 episodes before concluding ahead of the manga.
Based on the manga by Yūki Tabata, Black Clover follows Asta, a boy born without magic in a world where magical ability determines almost everything. Armed with anti-magic powers granted by his mysterious five-leaf grimoire, Asta sets out to become the Wizard King alongside his rival and childhood friend, Yuno. The manga concluded in 2025 after more than a decade of serialisation, while the franchise also received the Netflix film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King in 2023.
Crunchyroll Anime Night is the streaming service‘s theatrical event series that brings exclusive previews, premiere episodes, and special anime screenings to cinemas before they arrive on streaming. The upcoming Sneak Peek event gives audiences an early look at several anticipated series ahead of their official releases, including Black Clover Season 2.
