Microsoft’s 10th-generation family of Xbox consoles will be just that: a family. The company plans to introduce not just a home console, but also a way to play games on the go
Sharma reportedly told Xbox staff this week that the brand will build multiple devices for its 10th generation of hardware, rather than a single product.
“We are moving to a family of devices for Gen-10. There is not one device that fits all,” Sharma said in her address Tuesday, a transcript of which was shared with and <a href="https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/xbox-ceo-asha-sharma-speaks-at-internal-town-hall-we-must-strengthen-for-cxbox-series-x-s-xbox-helix-and-xbox-game-pass” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>verified by Windows Central. “We will certainly have a great console first, but we also know that many players will be on the go.”
In March, Microsoft publicly confirmed that its next-generation Xbox, codenamed Project Helix, will play both Xbox and PC games. The company is working with AMD on a custom SoC.
Microsoft has not yet said whether any of its upcoming hardware will feature disc drives, come in more than one performance tier, or use a desktop-style OS. at-home Helix console will include a disc drive, ship in more than one performance tier, like Xbox Series X and S, or run PC games through Windows.
