Reasons Behind the Zee Entertainment Shares Crash

ZEE shares have been under pressure for a long time now due to various reasons.

Today’s decline in ZEE stock is because of the company’s preferential warrant allotment. Last week, ZEE’s preferential issue and allotment committee approved the allotment of 2,40,59,266 fully convertible warrants at Rs. 126 per warrant to promoter group entity Sunbright Mauritius Investments Limited. The price comprised a warrant subscription price of Rs. 31.50 and a warrant exercise price of Rs. 94.50.

Investor sentiment was also shaken after the new development in the founder Subhash Chandra’s long-running personal insolvency case. Last week, on August 25, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) approved a repayment plan under which Chandra’s creditors will receive just Rs. 6.25 crore, plus another Rs.25 lakh towards process costs a total of Rs. 6.5 crore in returns on claims of approximately Rs. 22,006.57 crore. A recovery of only 0.03% for creditors, or a haircut of nearly 99.97%.

Moreover, just last month, the stock cracked over 13% after market regulator SEBI barred company founder Subhash Chandra and CEO Punit Goenka from the securities market for one year, along with a fine of Rs. 1.48 crore for both of them.

    Zee Entertainment Share Price Movement

Zee Entertainment shares today opened at Rs. 101 per share on the NSE and quickly fell more than 14% to 86.90 per share. Over the last 30 days, the stock has fallen 18.55%. However, the stock is currently 37.24% down from its 52-week low. The current Market capitalization of the firm stands at 8950 Rs. crore.

On a consolidated basis, ZEE reported operating revenue of Rs. 1,907.3 crore for the quarter, up 5% YoY from Rs. 1,824.8 crore in Q1 FY26. the company’s Profit after tax, however, fell sharply to around Rs. 74-76 crore, down roughly 48% YoY from Rs. 143.7 crore a year earlier.
