XBOX wants to make it easier for the press and content creators to review games on their platform

Very often, when a game from a third-party studio or publisher is about to be released, critics review it on PlayStation or PC. Even more surprising is that, even when a title developed by Microsoft is released on all platforms, it is primarily reviewed on competing platforms.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is the perfect example. Even though Activision is owned by the American company, Metacritic reviews were primarily conducted on PS5, PC, or even Switch 2. So far, the XBOX Series X version has only two reviews.

Microsoft wants to change this trend, and Scott Van Vliet, XBOX’s technical director, explained this on X. He aims to reduce the number of steps required for the press and content creators to request a code and play the game. The first changes will arrive in the near future.

Reviewing a game on XBOX takes too many steps today. Press and creators should be able to redeem and play, and that’s what the team is ultimately building toward. The first updates are coming soon.
