GTA 6 is unsurprisingly shaping up to be Rockstar Games’ largest production yet, and fans finally have hard numbers to plan their installation around. New install-size data shows just how much space the game will demand on PlayStation 5, while Take-Two Interactive has locked in a firm release date after two previous delays.
How Big is GTA 6’s Install File Size?

According to data shared by the tracking account PlayStation Game Size, Grand Theft Auto 6will require roughly 210 GB of storage on PS5 for its standard edition. That figure hasn’t yet been confirmed for the pricier Ultimate Edition, which could end up larger once bonus content and pre-order extras are factored in. Xbox Series X and Series S install sizes are yet to be made public, so Series S owners in particular may want to keep an eye out for official word before deciding how to manage their limited internal storage.
To put that number in perspective, the same tracking account also listed GTA 5 to be around 95 GB on PlayStation 4 and 100GB on PS5, while the Windows version of GTA 5Enhanced sits at 105 GB on Steam. In other words, GTA 6’s footprint is roughly double that of its predecessor, which is a reflection of how much more detailed and densely populated its version of Vice City and the surrounding Leonida region is going to be.
Keep in mind that install sizes rarely stay fixed, and that Day-one patches and ongoing content drops typically push storage requirements higher after launch, so 210GB is likely a starting point rather than a ceiling.
When DoesGTA 6Release, and Where?

Regarding the release time, following Rockstar’s usual pattern, GTA 6is expected to unlock at midnight local time on November 19, 2026, meaning players in each region can start playing as soon as the clock strikes 12 AM where they live. For context, the game was originally targeted for a 2025 window before sliding to May 26, 2026, and then moving once more to its current November date as the studio worked to polish the final product.
At launch, GTA 6 will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a PC version reportedly coming in the first quarter of 2027. Digital pre-loading is going to open on November 12, giving players a week to download the game ahead of launch day, further aligning with Rockstar’s decision to make this a digital-forward rollout rather than one centered on physical retail availability.
Don’t get caught short on launch day and start freeing up storage now. Check back here for the latest GTA 6Xbox file size and Ultimate Edition requirements!
