We’ve all seen zombie apocalypse titles that turn into chaos as one heroine gets a little nibble on the leg and keeps it a secret.
Think The Last of Us, as the big-screen adaptation showed the heartbreaking reality of sending the infected out to their own demise, unless your name is Ellie.
Fortunately, it’s a fate that we’ve never faced in real life – and hopefully never will do – but if you have an itch to see just how difficult it is to keep order when the borders are closed, Quarantine Zone: The Last Check is exactly what you’re after.
As a blend of Resident Eviland the fun pastimeOperation, this newXbox Game Pass inclusion is a belting option for this weekend.
Quarantine Zone: The Last Check is an Xbox Game Pass must-play
Released earlier this year, Quarantine Zone: The Last Check plays pantomime by putting you in charge of one of the most important jobs in a survivalist camp, but with a whimsical twist.
The game description reads: “Command the checkpoint in a collapsing city. Screen survivors, manage scarce restake could unleash the plague beyond your walls
“But holding the line is only the beginning. You’ll need to manage scarce reensifies with each passing day.”
In essence, you’re in charge of letting the rabble through to a safe haven, examining every inch of a person’s body and internals to make sure they are safe; if anyone shows as much as a hickey on the hips, though, you have a hammer to bonk them on the head and ship them to quarantine.
The title is set to stay on Xbox Game Pass for a long time, but you might want to take time out of your August to give it a go before the AAA big-hitters arrive this fall.
Xbox Game Pass enjoys a bountiful August
Although it’s not the biggest Game Pass month that we’ve ever enjoyed, there are a number of titles that have joined Quarantine Zone on Xbox’s subscription that demand attention.
The first being the day-one release of Mistfall Hunters, which is the wonderful blend of Elden Ring-inspired, medieval, soulslike fantasy played on ARC Raiders‘ extraction blueprint. Initial reactions to the title have been glowing, despite some Steam performance flaws, but Xbox users won’t need to be bothered by that.
If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, Beast of Carnation is an RPG that grabs headlines for engaging combat, interesting characters, and a huge fluffy dog.
Then there’s Date Everything, which is being dubbed as the best romance simulator ever, as you flirt with kettles, graft the fridge, and sleep around with the stove.
Finally, rally the Jolly Roger crew as the pirates settle on a new shore with Corsair Cove, picking up on the ped-legged adventures of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag.
Already, September is stacked too, as Xbox Game Pass continues to provide some must-plays this summer.
