    • Magneto is brutally killed by Apocalypse in X-Men ’97 Season 2 Episode 4, leaving fans shocked and devastated.
    • Fans react strongly on social media to the shocking death scene, praising the impact of the episode and highlighting Apocalypse’s menacing presence.
    • The bold storytelling decision draws comparisons to other risk-taking franchises, with Magneto’s history of multiple deaths in Marvel Comics leaving the door open for a potential comeback in future episodes.

X-Men ’97 just proved no mutant is safe, not even the most powerful ones. Fans react to one of the most brutal character deaths in the show’s history

Fans react to Magneto’s brutal death in X-Men ’97

X-Men ’97 Season 2 Episode 4, “The Rise of Apocalypse Part II,” delivered a shocking moment on Disney+. Apocalypse grabbed Magneto and used his Celestial armor to completely vaporize him. The scene left only Magneto’s helmet behind as Professor Xavier watched in horror. Fans flooded social media with strong reactions to the devastating sequence

One user on X wrote, “I can’t believe they actually had Apocalypse kill Magneto, and watching Xavier witness infront of his eyes shattered me.” Another user described the moment as “absolute cinema” and praised the episode’s impact. Several users highlighted Apocalypse’s menacing presence during the scene. One user noted, “That’s the face of evil right there he was enjoying it.”

The bold storytelling decision drew comparisons to other risk-taking franchises. One user called it “a very GOT moment in terms of risk taking.” That same user added, “Never thought Disney would take a risk like that.” Another user captured the emotional weight of the Xavier-Magneto dynamic. They described the two characters as “friends and enemies until the very end.”

Magneto previously appeared to die during the Genosha massacre in Season 1. He returned alive just two episodes later, which may give fans hope. However, the extended screen time and Professor Xavier’s anguished reaction suggest finality this time. The scene also reverses a classic comics moment from 1995’s Age of Apocalypse storyline. In that event, Magneto killed Apocalypse by tearing him apart using the iron in his blood

Magneto has died multiple times across Marvel Comics history and always returned. His resilience in the will have to wait for future episodes to learn his ultimate fate in the series
