SEPTEMBER 14, 2026 — As girls’ wrestling continues its historic rise across the United States, all 11 episodes of the new documentary series WRESTLEHER are now streaming on Documentary+ and Allez! Sports, taking viewers inside the movement through the young athletes, coaches and trailblazers helping transform one of America’s oldest sports

Directed by Ryan J. Kelly, WRESTLEHER goes inside the rapidly expanding world of girls’ high school wrestling in Ohio, one of the country’s great wrestling hotbeds, capturing a generation of teenage athletes competing for championships while helping redefine what the future of the sport can look like.

WRESTLEHER follows athletes from Lutheran West High School, Olentangy Orange High School, Manchester High School and Rossford High School as they train, compete and pursue championships while navigating the pressures, sacrifices and expectations that come with being part of a generation breaking new ground.

At the center of the series are young wrestlers including Jaydyn McKinney, Ma’Sarrah Robinson, Adri Metzler, Catie Kerr, Riley Banyasand Surraiya Mahmud, alongside coaches and mentors including Vanessa Oswalt, Dave Resslerand Allyssa Pirro. Their stories are placed within the larger evolution of women’s wrestling through appearances and insight from some of the sport’s most influential figures, including Olympic champion Helen Maroulis; Olympic gold medalistand WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle; U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Clarissa Chun;and Wrestle Like A Girl founderand former U.S. Army wrestler Sally Roberts.

The series arrives at a pivotal moment for the sport. USA Wrestling, the national governing body for wrestling in the United States, has chronicled the dramatic expansion of girls’ and women’s participation across the country as opportunities at the youth, high school, collegiate and elite levels continue to grow. That momentum is reflected throughout WRESTLEHER, where a generation of teenage athletes is entering a sport that is changing rapidly around them while simultaneously helping drive that change.

“WRESTLEHER is ultimately about these young women and the moment they’re creating for themselves,” said Ryan J. Kelly, director of WRESTLEHER. “We wanted to capture what it feels like to be part of a sport that is growing and changing so quickly, while showing everything these athletes put into it: the discipline, the pressure, the setbacks and the determination. I’m incredibly grateful to the girls, their families and coaches for trusting me to tell their stories and allowing us into their lives during such an important time. I’m also thankful to USA Wrestling for its support and for the work it continues to do to create opportunities for girls and women in this sport. I hope WRESTLEHER can help shine a light on what’s happening in wrestling right now because these young women aren’t waiting for someone else to define its future. They’re helping build it themselves.”

“USA Wrestling is grateful for the effort to bring the WRESTLEHER story to life and put a deserved spotlight on the inspiring girls and women in our sport,” said Rich Bender, USA Wrestling Executive Director. “Women’s wrestling is among the fastest-growing sports in the country. It is important to keep pushing for opportunities for women to participate and experience everything the sport has to offer, as we have seen recently in Ohio and many other states.”

“WrestleHer represents exactly the kind of storytelling Documentary+ exists to champion,” said Geoff Clark, CEO of Documentary+. “These young athletes aren’t just competing for championships – they’re fighting for recognition, equality, and a place in the future of the sport they love. When we watched this series, we immediately knew it was something special. It captures the grit, courage, and heart that define the very best documentaries.”

“Girls need to see themselves in sport to believe it’s possible for them. WRESTLEHER does exactly that, and it’s the kind of storytelling we’re proud to be part of.” Melissa Forman Co-Founder Allez! Sports

Women’s wrestling has grown from a sport in which many girls had little choice but to compete against boys into one with an increasingly established pipeline of girls-only competition, state championships, collegiate programs and international opportunities. WRESTLEHER captures that transformation from the perspective of the athletes experiencing it firsthand.

Blending intimate access to the next generation of wrestlers with perspectives from Olympic champions, coaches and advocates who helped pave the way, WRESTLEHER captures a movement unfolding in real time—and the teenage girls helping change the face of American wrestling.
