Wonder Man director takes kids (and fans) behind the scenes of Marvel Studios’ Disney+ show

Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man show depicts how difficult it is to make a career in Hollywood. As you might expect, the Disney+ series is a meta-examination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So it’s no surprise that Destin Daniel Cretton, director and creator of the Wonder Man series, would take us behind the scenes of the upcoming MCU show.

Destin Daniel Cretton shared two new videos on his Instagram that he shot for his 8-year-old’s progress day at school. In the first video, Cretton arrives on set at Vasquez Rocks Natural Area and Nature Center in Los Angeles. This filming location has been used in projects such as Sam Raimi’s Army of Darkness, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, various Star Trek shows, and the music video for BTS’s ON. Cretton’s video provides a glimpse of a sequence filmed for the “first Wonder Man movie” featured in the show, with actor Dane Larsen co-starring as the MCU’s first film version of Wonder Man.

In the second video, Cretton speaks with Kristy Tagatak, the show’s head of hair, and Gary Marcus, the show’s first assistant director. Speaking to Cretton’s children’s class, Marcus has words of encouragement for young people who want to become filmmakers. “Dream big and it will happen to you.”

It’s a sentiment that seems fitting for the entire Wonder Man show. All eight episodes of the series will be available on Disney+ tomorrow, January 27, 2026.
