Bringing back nostalgic television shows and <a href="https://comicvibe.com/adam-brody-movies-and-tv-shows/” title=”Adam Brody Movies and TV Shows”>movies will always be something special. We all want to revisit old favorite movies and TV shows once in a while, right? There is something undeniable and special about familiar stories returning to the big screen. Let’s take a trip down memory lane!

I’ve always been interested in the film and entertainment side of things, and when looking at reboots that have come out so far… I can’t deny my excitement.

So, let’s dive into some of the comebacks that everyone has been talking about as of late!

Still feeling the 1990s nostalgia? :

The number of TV shows and movie comebacks this year is exciting fans everywhere. It’s clear people have a special place in their hearts for their favorite shows and movies returning and actors reprising their roles.

Ever since we were kids and teens, TV show and movie previews were thrown onto our screens every second we looked at them. This even leads back to 1999 and the early 2000’s, aka the golden age of television and programming, when many beloved shows were first released.

With streaming platforms now, it’s easier than ever to revisit beloved TV shows and movies we grew up watching on repeat. Fans are constantly rediscovering series they’ve always loved, and ones they never had a chance to enjoy originally.

Ever since Legally Blonde was released in 2001, it immediately created a cult-like following that is still felt 25 years later, after Prime Video produced Elle. Set six years before the 2001 film, the show mainly explores Elle Woods’ high school years, now played by Lexi Minetree, and brings back many familiar moments, including her famous bend-and-snap move and signature color, pink!

Elledoes a wonderful job of bringing a very familiar character to a new, wide-ranging generation, including younger audiences who may not have been around for the original movie to witness Woods’ confidence and growth. The audience is able to appreciate the discovery of her ambition for the second time thanks to the reboot.

Social media has also cemented Woods as a cultural icon, using her image in memes, social media edits, fashion inspiration, and even Halloween costumes.

    Scream7

Scream‘s first movie came out in 1996; from here, the movie would become a national and global success, leading to seven movies so far, the seventh one having released in February 2026.

Fans involved with this fandom are aware that it expands its entire plotline through all seven movies, with new killers, characters, and side plots. Fans also raise questions that the movie happily answers, like “Who will be the next Ghostface?” “What new characters will show up?” or “Who can or cannot be trusted?”

When relating to social media and storytelling, fandoms have also done a good job of recapping past storylines to new audiences and bringing back movie knowledge, such as when fans excitedly point out easter eggs from previous movies.

We see this happen with almost every movie and television show reboot. The fans often post edits, reminisce, and ask questions about the movie before its release out of excitement.

    Stories never grow old

Here is one of the ultimate classics growing up! Toy Story has cemented itself in people’s minds and hearts around the world. When the first movie came out in 1995, it immediately exploded in sales and has developed a long-time fan base. When the first trailer of Toy Story 5dropped, the entire comment section was excited to see what the movie would reprise.

This franchise has remained quite popular for a long time, somehow managing to remain part of current culture, which is no small task. The release of the Toy Story 5 film has been very successful at the box office, standing at over $1.001 billion globally. This shows production companies that fans want more!

The nostalgia of growing up with characters like Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear will always be relevant, especially as these movies reignite that love in every new generation.

How else does nostalgia play a role in 2026

When viewing films and shows like Toy Story, Scream, and Elle, these comebacks have been some of the most talked-about comebacks this year.

When looking at the show Elle, it’ll instantly bring you back to that early 2000s pink girl aesthetic; a cemented cultural phenomenon in film history. The series itself recreates Elle’s personality and dives deeper into her life. Rather than fitting it all into a movie, the show allows time for Woods’ development in a more cohesive way.

The Scream franchise, the first film of which debuted more than 20 years ago, has remained a classic as years went on. As for the Scream film itself and why I picked it, it’s for the 90s horror aesthetics that make viewers come back, wondering who the Ghostface killer is.

As for Toy Story, I’ve chosen this for the large fanbase, iconic and memeable characters, as well as Pixar movies having a huge impact on most of us growing up as kids. There is no denying that Toy Story is one of the most talked about and known movies of this generation.

Nostalgia has infiltrated many social media platforms, as mentioned earlier. A post made about a movie or TV show could have the potential to go viral or gain traction from how popular thatone scene can be.

The past is back, and fans are ready!

Movies and TV shows that are making a return in 2026 instantly prove that audiences and fans aren’t really ready to let their favorite franchises go! Bringing back franchises like SpongeBob, Scream, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Legally Blonde, and 28 Days Later proves just that!

When you see these types of movies and shows, it’ll give you the option to revisit memories from when you were a kid, growing up with a show that you loved dearly. For Gen Z especially, they discover icons easily and slide into fandoms that they might’ve missed.

As 2026 continues, we all can’t wait to see what movie or show will be next to be brought back to life.
