Back in 2024, the virtual reality MMORPG Zenith had put forth its final content update before entering into maintenance mode, which was an already bad end result for the crowdfunded game, particularly as it never got its promised standalone PC version. Unfortunately, the bad news has gotten worse for any remaining fans of the game, as Ramen VR has confirmed the game’s sunset date of Friday, December 18th.
Previous owners of the game will be able to play up until 1:00 p.m. EDT on the appointed shutdown date, while sales of the game in full and purchase of premium currency were halted yesterday. That said, those who still have cash shop currency will still be able to use them, and the free-to-play version Zenith: Nexus until November 18th. The devs further confirm that there are no plans for an offline version.
Simply put, the game’s full closure is purely a financial decision. “We have kept the servers online since that decision over two years ago. It isn’t feasible for us to continue running the servers at a loss,” the announcement reads. Even with the sad news, the studio thanks players for their support. And so another one bites the dust, regrettably.
