VisionQuest trailer hints at how Marvel will complete its WandaVision trilogy

Marvel just gave fans their first real look at the film meant to close out one of its most quietly ambitious trilogies. During the D23 Disney Entertainment Showcase, Paul Bettany and James Spader took the stage alongside Kevin Feige to unveil the long-anticipated trailer for VisionQuest. Fans can steady their emotions, as it confirms this is the emotional finale of a story that started five years ago.

Mark your calendars, Marvel fans: VisionQuest will premiere Wednesday, October 14, 2026, exclusively on Disney+. The eight-episode series closes out what Marvel is now openly calling a trilogy—one that began with WandaVisionin 2021 and continued through Agatha All Along in 2024, even though neither show was originally marketed as part of a set. Don’t you love a surprise?!

VisionQuest picks up with Vision contemplating who he is, telling the barkeep, “Home is just me.” White Vision was last seen flying off into the unknown at the end of WandaVision’s finale. Rebooted, stripped of his original memories and emotions, and on the run from people who want to weaponize him, Vision has spent years in hiding. In the trailer’s opening moments, he has an ordinary job at a pub. Searching for a sense of identity, he turns inward, consulting the AI personas embedded in his own programming, including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., and, in a twist longtime fans have been waiting for, Ultron himself.

Bettany described the show’s core question directly at D23: this Vision is trying to figure out not just who he is but what makes anyone human in the first place. And who better to work through that with than Ultron, the AI who once tried to wipe out humanity entirely?

Vision’s isolation doesn’t last, either. A bounty placed on his head by hunter Paladin (Todd Stashwick) and a looming threat from Jocasta (T’Nia Miller) force him back into the world—alongside Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be the reincarnated version of Vision and Wanda’s son, Tommy Maximoff.

What makes this trailer stand out is how directly the series will acknowledge its own history. Bettany joked on stage that in the Marvel Universe, no one stays dead unless Kevin Feige says so—a fitting line for a character who’s died and returned more than once. With WandaVisionintroducing this family and Agatha All Alongputting their son Billy center stage, VisionQuest now brings Tommy into the fold, finally assembling the pieces of a story five years in the making.

October 14 is circled in red. And as Ultran says in the trailer, “Nothing bands a family (or fanbase) together like mortal jeopardy.”
