Following yesterday’s surprise update, we have a new graphics and loading times comparison for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch.
Nintendo took fans aback by releasing a brand new update for the racer this week. The patch was mostly aimed at Nintendo Switch 2 owners as higher resolution, CameraPlay, and more are supported.
We’ll mention right away that Nintendo left the actual graphics as they were originally. That said, the title now looks better than ever before on Nintendo Switch 2. We now have higher resolution and an overall sharper image.
Note that in the graphics comparison, it’s shown at certain points that the frame rate on Nintendo Switch 1 was 30 FPS, but this is largely an error. The game was already at 60 FPS for the most part, though it was 30 when playing splitscreen multiplayer with three or four players. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe also now supports up to eight players on Nintendo Switch 2 in splitscreen.
Loading times have been reduced as well. At one point in the comparison, we see that a particular race boots up in just under four seconds on Nintendo Switch 2. That’s in comparison to over nine seconds on the original Nintendo Switch.
