Vermeil in Gold illustrator Yoko Umezu has died at the age of 47 following a cerebral infarction (ischemic stroke), bringing the manga to an unexpected end.
The news was announced by the editors of Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine, where the series was serialised, as Umezu passed away on July 7

As a result, Vermeil in Gold will conclude with its latest chapter, which was published in the magazine on June 12. The remaining unpublished chapters will be released at a later date, with further details to be announced.
The manga received a 12-episode anime adaptation that aired from July to September 2022. Takashi Naoya directed the series, Tatsuya Takahashi handled the series composition, Ken Ito and Kenichi Kuroda composed the music, and Staple Entertainment produced the animation.
